OTV Cares Extends Educational Support to NEET Topper Omm Prasad Baliarsingh

In a heartfelt gesture that embodies the spirit of empowerment through education, Odisha Television Network (OTN), under its flagship initiative OTV Cares, has extended financial assistance to Omm Prasad Baliarsingh — a bright and determined medical aspirant from Barapada village in Begunia Block — who secured SGS Rank 62 in NEET (General Category) and has been admitted to MKCG Medical College, Berhampur.

The cheque was formally handed over to the college authorities today in the presence of faculty members and representatives from OTN.

Omm’s journey is one of resilience and inspiration. The son of an auto driver, Omm lost his elder brother to blood cancer in 2005 due to the family’s inability to afford treatment. That heartbreaking loss led his father, Srusil Kumar Baliarsingh, to make a promise — that he would raise his younger son to become a doctor who could help the helpless.

Despite numerous financial hardships, Omm remained focused on his goal. He scored 86% in his Class 12 exams and cracked NEET with flying colours, earning his place in MKCG Medical College. Though a government scholarship covered his initial admission fees, the ongoing cost of his medical education remained a challenge for the family.

Moved by Omm’s story and his unwavering spirit, OTV Cares stepped forward to support his academic journey through its Education Scholarship.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Litisha Mangat Panda, Chief Business Officer, OTN, said:

“Omm’s story touched all of us deeply. It’s not just a story of academic success, but of a promise, perseverance, and purpose. Just like OTV Cares is assisting Omm today, we believe he will go on to care for others as a doctor. That ripple effect of compassion is what our society truly needs.”

OTV Cares remains committed to identifying and supporting deserving students from underprivileged backgrounds and hopes that stories like Omm’s will inspire many more to overcome barriers and pursue their dreams.
